Fund Raising
Community Based Cinema! Big Bertha is committed to your local community and our aim is to assist local kindies, schools, community and sporting groups raise much needed funds as part of their fundraising program.
Unlike the big chains we will not just be selling tickets to another
film. People might well turn up just to see a great classic movie but our
aim is to 'shock their socks off' by delivering a captivating experience. A night that will be unique not just for our 'Moving
Movies' but also for the great atmosphere and involvement we will nurture. - On behalf of the Buderim Kindergarten and Pre-School association Inc., I would like to thank you for your generous donation to our building fund. . . . The feedback from the Saturday night has been very positive - everyone enjoyed themselves. Thank you for putting on such a professional show. Natalia Fitzpatrick - Just a quick note to thank you once again for your sponsorship . . . While the School has benefited from the funds raised as a result, it is one of our aims each year to engender and foster the tremendous community spirit that is such a unique feature of Buderim. Your contribution has helped us to further the development of the Arts and the school's participation within our community. Pam van der Kooy Key advantages to our fundraising nights:
Step 1
You choose your preferred date and then select a film. This is actually the
hard part as we have a film library that includes several thousand titles.
Then you simply advise members of your group the date and the film you have
chosen and encourage them to come along.
An hour before the show starts a couple of volunteers are required to assist
with the screen erection, (this is the fun part) and again after the show to
deflate her and roll her up. (This is normally only 1/2 hour). A
few additional volunteers will be required to man the gate prior to the film
commencing to collect tickets from your guests.
You then simply sit back and enjoy a night of fantastic entertainment. We
can think of very few, if any fund raising activities, which are as easy to
stage or as enjoyable for the event organisers. What does it all Cost ? We offer two charge rates. Firstly we have a flat hire charge or alternately, an option for charities and fund raising events involves sharing the profits from the night on a 60-40% basis. This means that after deducting the cost of the film hire, you get to keep 60% of the ticket takings. This formula will work for most average size events, (250+ people) and when you think of an average size school, you are likely to get many more people along than this. Don't feel disheartened if your group is smaller than this, please give us a call because at Bertha's House we are very flexible and we are willing to adjust this formula or even use a set fee for smaller, worthwhile community groups. To make the event financially viable for everyone involved we suggest you charge the following ticket prices. Adults of $10, Children $5, Family Pass $30 (2 Adults and up to 3 Children) Example: (250+ tickets approx.) 50 Family tickets at $30 = $1,500 100 Adult tickets at $10 = $1,000 100 Children tickets at $5 = $500 Total = $3,000 Ticket sales Less cost of film hire $600 (Approx) = $2400 60% of which equals $1440 being what your group would make on the night. Naturally the more people you can get along to the event, the more money you will make.! Not bad considering that it is all so easy to organise! All you have to do is encourage people to turn up on the night. Once at the event your members will experience a very unique and thoroughly entertaining experience while at the same time raising a substantial amount of money for your event. Additional revenue: Additionally as you have a truly captive audience you also have the potential to substantially increase your revenue on the night by some of the following activities. Having a sausage sizzle. Holding a Raffle. Selling pop-corn, drinks, lollies or ice cream. A Fashion Show that your audience pay to enter. Encourage people to come in fancy dress to tie in with the theme of the night. EG Dress as pirates while we screen 'Pirates of the Caribbean' However as every event is different, due to logistics such as access to the site and staffing requirements we really do need to give an individual quote for every event. Rest assured that we will endeavour to come up with a win-win situation that can make your next fund raising event not only fun to stage but financially rewarding.
