A seven-metre-tall inflatable movie screen, Bertha is the first of her type in Australia and is being used to pioneer community-based cinema on the Coast.

The crowd who turned out with their fold-up chairs and torches for last night's unveiling enjoyed The Sound of Music as they have never seen it before - booing
the Nazi's, cheering on Maria and hissing at the Baroness while dressed like the characters.

Organisers Show Business and Lush Film Studios Buderim will be popping up all over the Coast - from beaches to the rainforests - screening classics such as Grease and the Wizard of Oz to help local groups and charities raise funds.

Big Bertha made a spectacular debut in Buderim last Saturday night.

The giant inflatable movie screen was the centre of attention for, among other things, the screening of the sound of Music at the Buderim Mountain State School Oval.

The operators intend to create memorable 'movies in the park' events which will be interactive experiences for residents and visitors alike.

Big Bertha is seven metres tall, easy to move and will be appearing in many venues around Queensland.

It is intended to use Big Bertha for fundraising occasions for local organisations and groups.

Hollywood classics will be the main feature, particularly those which encourage audience participation.

Watch out for the Wizard of Oz, Rocky Horror Show and Grease in the near future. babe and Possibly jaws will also be on the list.
